What are Taxi players and what are their fees?

A taxi player is an athlete that is unable to make the time or financial commitment to play on a club team. A taxi player attends all the practices with their age appropriate team. The player receives high quality coaching, while improving their skills and remaining active in the sport.

The fees for a taxi player are:

When will we know who is coaching which team?

We will have a general idea of who is coaching what team at our “Meet the Coaches” night in November. You may also check our website or sign up for our email updates! We are very excited about our staff. We are fortunate to be returning all of our head coaches, as well as adding some more awesome coaches to our staff this season. All of our head coaches have been trained in the Gold Medal Squared coaching techniques, and we have personally vetted their coaching. We recognize that any coach is going to have a huge effect on your daughter not only as an athlete, but as a person. We try to maximize that positive impact and make sure that all of our coaches are qualified, and share our philosophies off the court as well.

Will everyone play equally or will the team play to win?

One thing that we are very proud of at MVA is our philosophy on playing time. Everyone will get playing time during the local, non-qualifying tournaments. Whenever we are in the playoffs or at a qualifying tournament we will play to win in an effort to advance in playoffs and/or earn a berth at Nationals.

At MVA we require all of our coaches to keep stats and we use those stats as a way to track our top players by position, line-ups and rotations. If you don’t keep stats, too much is left up to the subjective view of a coach. This is one of the most important philosophies we have at MVA. This tool also allows our athletes maximum exposure to perspective coaches and an active college recruiting environment. Stats will also be regularly updated on your daughters profile page on our website. We will also provide tools for you to help get your daughter recruited!

What are the Procedures for Registration and Tryouts?

In order to try out for any club team, your athlete must be registered with the USA Volleyball Organization (USAV). ALL USAV registrations with CHRVA (Our region) MUST be completed AND ACTIVATED before you can participate in ANY club activity for the upcoming or current season. THIS INCLUDES TRYOUTS!!! All athletes must print a copy of their membership card and present it at each tryout you attend. Membership cards will be available for printing after your registration fee has been paid and your account has been activated. There is a $50 registration fee associated that isn’t related to MVA or any individual club and goes right to the Region. Please refer to the CHRVA website www.chrva.org for details about obtaining a refund if your athlete fails to make a club team.

When and where are tryouts held?

Tryouts are held at: Dulaney High School, 255 East Padonia Rd. Timonium, MD 21093

Age Definitions: The player's age group is based on their age as of August 31, 2014 - NOT their current age.

TRYOUT DATES/TIMES:

Saturday, November 2, 2013: 3:00 – 4:30 pm Ages 13 and under (Anyone who is 13 and under by August 31, 2014).

Saturday, November 09, 2013: 12:00 – 2:00 pm Ages 17 and 18 (Anyone who is 18 and under by August 31, 2014).

Saturday, November 09, 2013: 2:30 – 4:30 pm Ages 15 and 16 (Anyone who is 16 and under by August 31, 2014).

Saturday, November 09, 2013: 5:00 – 6:30 pm Ages 14 (Anyone who is 14 and under by August 31, 2014).

(This is also a make-up date for Ages 13 and under who did not attend the November 3rd tryout session)

MAKE-UP TRYOUT SESSIONS FOR AGES 14 – 18 WHO ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE NOVEMBER 9TH SESSIONS

Sunday, November 10, 2013: 9:00 – 10:30 am Ages 17 and 18 (Anyone who is 18 and under by August 31, 2014).

Sunday, November 10, 2013: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm Ages 14, 15, and 16 (Anyone who is 16 and under by August 31, 2014).

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tryout time with the following completed forms:

a. Copy of your CHRVA membership card

b. USAV Medical Release form

c. $25 Cash or check payable to MVA (or $20 online prepayment)

What are your fees and what is included?

Will you offer any fee discounts?

Discounts for Ages 15 – 18:
Families who choose to pay the entire fee by December 16, 2013 may deduct $100.00 from the total cost.
Families with two or more players may deduct $100 per child and pay in installments or by December 16, 2013. If paying in installments, please deduct the $100 from the final installment.

Discounts for the 13/14 Age Group:
Families who choose to pay the entire fee by December 16, 2013 may deduct $50.00 from the total cost.
Families with two or more players may deduct $50.00 per child and pay in installments or by December 16, 2013. If paying in installments, please deduct the $50.00 from the final installment.

Discounts for Ages 12 and Under:
To encourage our young athletes to learn to play and love the sport, we set our fees at the bare minimum and are unable to offer any discounts.

Where and when will the practices be held?

Practices will be held at:

Dulaney High School, 255 E. Padonia Rd. Timonium, MD 21093 (beginning in mid March)

The practice times and locations for each team will be determined once tryouts are over.
